FAQ
What is a bareboat charter?
Our Bare boats are offered for private charters with no crew. The charterers need the appropriate qualifications, as they are responsible for the navigation and handling of the yacht. Most bareboat yachts can accommodate up to 10 or 12 persons. The "per person" cost of a bareboat charter is usually below the cost of a resort vacation, without the crowds! Find out for yourself how affordable this unique adventure is with Skyfall Yacht Charter!
What qualifications do I need to charter a bareboat sailing yacht in Greece?
According to the local regulation, in order to rent a bareboat charter, two crew members need to be capable of commanding the vessel. · The skipper should have an appropriate, recognized sailing certificate, or demonstrate sailing club membership. ASA & RYA certifications are fully recognized. If not issued by an EU member state, certification should come with an official translation in Greek or English. An official declaration stating the skipper’s competence may also be required if the harbor authority considers it necessary. · The certification required for the co-skipper is similar to the one required for the skipper. Alternatively, the co-skipper may also provide a signed self-declaration for the port authority. Note: A sailing license or certification is defined as the appropriate documentation officially recognized in the charterer's home country. A sailing experience declaration may be required by the local port authorities for the skipper and co-skipper.
Skippered yacht charters?
All our charters are also available with Skipper. These charters are recommended for people who are not qualified or for those who wish to have a relaxed vacation, without being in charge of the sailboat themselves.
