Greek traditional Sweet Pie "Kolokithopita"
INGREDIENTS
- 1 yellow pumking of 3 kilos- ¾ cup of oil- 1 cup of sugar- ½ cup of honey- 2-3 cups of nuts- 2-3 cups of black and sultana raisin
- 3 cups of sesame
- Plenty of cinnamon
- 1 spoon of salt
- 4 pastry sheets or 6-7 frozen
PREPARATION
Cut your pumpkin in half, throw away the seeds and strings and grate it. Sprinkle the pumpkin with salt and let it strain for a while and then squeeze to get rid of the remaining liquids.
Cook the pumpkin with some olive oil in a shallow pot and wait until all liquids have evaporated. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir for a while.
Coat your baking pan with oil and lay 2 pastry sheets inside. Pour in the mixture covering every spot of the pan. Cover with 2 pastry sheets, spread oil and sprinkle with water the top of the pie. Cook it on medium heat.
Sweet pumpkin pie is very tasty and you can serve it as a dessert.
